High-end fashion brand seeks to open in former Macy’s men’s store in Union Square

July 28, 2026

High-end streetwear brand Kith is seeking to open a location in the former Macy’s men’s store building, becoming the latest retailer to arrive in San Francisco’s Union Square.

Founded in New York, Kith has collaborated with Nike and Adidas, as well as luxury brands like Versace. The company is seeking to combine two spaces at 100 Stockton St. into a single 5,582-square-foot space, according to building permits. The estimated cost is $2 million and the plans, which also call for a cafe, are under review.

The company didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

Ron Pernell, owner of a hair studio a few blocks away, first posted about Kith’s opening Monday.

Developer Blatteis & Schnur and Morgan Stanley purchased 100 Stockton St. from Macy’s and renovated the property, replacing its facade with a new glass exterior. The landlord has leased part of the building to Nikkei rooftop restaurant Chotto Matte and hospitality startup Convene.

Kith’s arrival is another sign of building tenant interest in Union Square, which was hit hard by the pandemic. Nintendo and Pop Mart have opened new stores in recent years, and AT&T and the RealReal also returned to the area, reoccupying the same locations that had previously closed.

Kazuko Morgan of Cushman & Wakefield, the retail broker for 100 Stockton, said she is working on multiple other leases in the area. She declined to comment on Kith’s plans beyond confirming the permits were filed.
